Toyota previews Yaris GR Sport

With the GRMN Yaris being produced in such limited quantities, Toyota will be releasing a new variant of the car called the GR Sport. It will use the same tires, wheels and dampers that are found on the GRMN, as well as a lower ride height. It's going to have a unique rear spoiler, black accenting a unique two tone color scheme. GR branded front seats and the same GRMN steering wheel will also be present. It'll be using a hybrid 1.5l powertrain which will put out 99hp, paired to a CVT. There hasn't been a confirmed price, but it will be fully unveiled at the Paris Autoshow.

Chances are that we will see this new trim expand across Toyota's lineup. I can see why the started with it on the Yaris however, as that's probably going to be the cheapest platform to modify. Good thing that Toyota has implemented a launch gear in their CVT, because that would have gimped this variant.

My confidence in seeing GRMN grow like AMG and BMW's M marque is growing especially after seeing the Century GRMN.

Sure seems like long gone are the super frugal days and now finally they're throwing more money into cars all about FUN.

There are already whispers that the 86 is the next model to receive this performance trim. I doubt that Toyota will ever offer the Century outside of its home country, but it is a great looking car.

I heard that the GRMN Century seen here was a one-off build for the brands CEO, Akio Toyoda, with no mention of it going to production.
With the new LS here, it sort of fills the spot a Century would have, so don't expect it at all. In all its decades, the Century has been Japan-exclusive.

I think the previous generation of the Century went for something like 21 years. They have just recently finally decided to update it with a hybrid powertrain.
